Pre-inspecting a rug

Pre-Inspection

Our field technicians will first assess your area rugs while they are still in your home. We are looking for evident areas of concern such as yellow pet urine stains, existing dye bleed, and visible structural damage. Once your rugs come back to our rug care facility, they are given a more thorough pre-inspection, where we may also test the dyes for stability, especially if we know there are pet urine deposits or areas that have been spot treated at home.

Impacted Soil Removal

Removal of the embedded soil and particulate matter that weekly vacuuming leaves behind is our primary focus prior to washing. We utilize special equipment to assist with the toughest impacted dirt. When we are able to remove the deep-down soils prior to washing your rugs, we ensure the best possible final result!

Hand washing a rug

Rug Washing

The keys to our fiber-safe rug washing system are the filtered, purified water that we use and our use of cleaning solutions tailor-made for wool and other specialty fibers, like silk. Each rug is washed and detailed by hand – one at a time. Once your rugs are washed, we rinse them until the water runs clear. In doing this, we significantly reduce the chance of detergent residues being left behind.

Pet Urine/Odor Removal

We understand that smelly rugs can be a major source of embarrassment. Bacteria from pet accidents and oily residue from your pet’s fur can’t be vacuumed away. Spot treatments help the appearance, but do little to remove the odors. We guarantee odor removal when our suggested protocols are followed. Unfortunately, most machine made and tufted rugs must be excluded from this guarantee.

Rug Pad under the corner of a rug

Rug Padding

Having a quality rug pad underneath your area rugs helps extend their life by reducing wear in traffic areas, assisting in filtering particulate dirt, and keeping your rugs from creeping and shifting. Some rug pads even provide a moisture barrier to help protect your floors from pet stains and spills. Let us know how your rugs are positioned in your home, and we’re happy to suggest the appropriate type of rug pad for each rug!

Fiber Protection

High quality, professionally applied fiber protection will give you the best results, allowing a spill to bead on the tips of your area rug fibers for approximately 10-15 minutes. This should be plenty of time to treat the affected area. Whenever your rugs are cleaned, you should have the protector re-applied. Zerorez Rug Cleaning also offers Solar Shield – an additional protector application that helps block UV fading. We are happy to provide you with a quote for this service!

Moth Treatment

When moths are found in your textiles, it can sometimes be a long road to removal. Your pest control company will likely have you take anything that could be a potential food source – things made from protein-based fibers like wool and silk – for professional cleaning while they treat your home. Once your rugs have been cleaned and treated, our repairers will inspect your rugs for any visible moth damage and will contact you with a repair quote.

Rug Repairs

When your area rugs encounter physical or structural damage, whether from age, use, pets, or the vacuum cleaner, we have repairers on staff ready to help. Small holes, damaged side cords, torn corners, and pet-chewed areas are just some of the most common damage we see every day. Please don’t throw away a damaged rug thinking that repairs will be too costly! We’re usually able to provide a reasonably priced solution that will keep your rugs healthy for a long time.

Fringe repair in process

Fringe Repairs

Rug fringes become eroded quickly because they lay out flat. Footsteps, vacuuming, and pets are the most common culprits for this type of damage. Have our repairers secure, reweave, or replace damaged or missing fringes to help keep the ends of your rugs protected and looking beautiful.

Dye Bleed Correction

Most of the dye bleed correction we see is a direct result of pet damage. Urine deposits break down the dyes used in rugs. When you mix that with over-the-counter spotters or improper at-home cleaning attempts, it can be a recipe for disaster! While we cannot guarantee 100% restoration, we do aim for significant improvement with results that might not be seen by someone who didn’t know about the pre-existing damage. We are happy to provide a quote to you for this type of restoration once the rug has been washed.

Pick-Up/Delivery

Yes! Zerorez Rug Cleaning may come pick up your rolled rug for a small fee each way. If you need us to move furniture and/or roll your rugs up for you, extra charges will apply. Tuesday is the dedicated day reserved for pick-up and delivery service.

Because our schedule fills up in advance, be sure to call us in plenty of time to make your desired pick up or delivery date. Rugs may also be dropped off at our shop by appointment.

Once your rugs come in, you should expect about a two week turn-around. If repairs are being done, it may take longer.
